News 11 Weather: A little sizzle before summer

An extreme heat watch is in effect Saturday morning through Monday evening.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - This week is Monsoon Awareness week as we prepare to enter the turbulent storm season which starts next week.

Ahead of that, our local temps are expected to rise anywhere between seven to 10 degrees our normal average.

Dry conditions remain with fairly widespread moderate heat risk through the entire week with increasing major heat risk expected to increase by Sunday.

This weekend, an extreme heat watch is in effect Saturday morning through Monday evening. Dangerously hot conditions possible.

Afternoon temperatures 104 to 114. Overexposure can cause heat cramps and heat exhaustion to develop and, without intervention, can lead to heat stroke.
