Weather Recap: April 2025

April was an overall eventful month. We had more days warmer than normal plus, we had a round for record-breaking temperatures. We also had multiple wind events. Take a look at it all below.
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - Pretty much all of April, we had more days above normal than we did below. We hit our first triple-digit daytime high so far this year on Thursday, April 10th. The warmest day of 102 degrees was on April 11th.

We can't forget about the record warmth we had in the month of April from a unseasonable heat wave.
Yuma and El Centro broke daily record highs on April 10 and it also marked our first triple-digit high of the year so far. Take a look below.

These were the warmest temperatures of the year so far.

The month of April was an overall dry month. Our rain total for the month leaves us at 0.00", and our monthly average is 0.14", so that leaves us below our monthly average of -0.14" for the month of April.

So far for 2025, Yuma has accumulated 0.07", and comparing it with our 2025 yearly average, we actually should be at 1.30," which is below where we should be.
With what Yuma hasn't accumulated so far for 2025 and comparing it to our total around this same time back in 2024, we were at 2.20." So as far as rain totals go we are very behind for the year.

Our drought conditions also continue to worsen, at the start of the year the majority of the Desert Southwest was under severe drought with a chunk of La Paz in extreme.
Since then, pretty much all of the Desert Southwest has been under extreme drought. That means about 67% of the state is under extreme drought.

And throughout the month of April we did have a few wind events that called for a Weather Authority First Alert Action Day due to strong winds. The highest wind gusts recorded in Yuma for the month of April was on Tuesday April 1st AND Saturday, April 26th with a gust of 39 MPH on both days.
