UConn wins 12th National Title
Huskies run away with National Championship, top South Carolina 82-59
TAMPA, Fla. (KYMA, KECY) - UConn's dynasty added another chapter Sunday, and this one was pure domination.
The Huskies rolled past South Carolina 82-59 in the women's national championship, capturing their 12th title in program history and their first since 2016.
Azzi Fudd and freshman sensation Sarah Strong combined for 48 points, as Connecticut built a lead early and never looked back. Paige Bueckers, playing in her final college game, added 17 to cap off a legacy-defining career.
"This means everything," Bueckers said. "To go out like this, with these teammates, it's unforgettable."
The Gamecocks, who entered as defending champs, never found rhythm. South Carolina was outscored in every quarter and struggled to keep pace with UConn's balanced attack.
With Strong and Fudd set to return, the Huskies may be just as strong next season.
