Registration deadline approaching to vote in Democratic Presidential primary
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The deadline is right around the corner for the upcoming Arizona Democratic Presidential primary election.
You can only vote if you are a registered democrat, meaning independents won't be allowed to hit voting centers unless they change their party affiliation.
If you’re not registered to vote or want to change the party affiliation you have until next Tuesday, February 18 to register.
Right now there are 11 candidates running for the Democratic bid.

- Amy Klobuchar

But at this point, all the Yuma County Democratic Party is asking is for voters to get out there and have their voices heard.
“It’s going to be very competitive here in Arizona because we’re very newly considered a battleground state. We’ve been trending blue for the last few cycles. We’re not there yet. So it’ll be interesting to see. Obviously we have a lot of censures in Arizona, but we have a lot of progressives in Arizona. So we’ve been seeing that dynamic play out between the candidates,” said Bryan Rasmussen, chair of the Yuma County Democratic Party.
Rasmussen added there are more registered Democrats in Yuma County than Republicans and there are about 40,000 registered Independents.
Arizona Republicans have decided to skip out on a primary election putting their effort behind the re-election campaign for President Donald Trump.
California is also getting ready for the primary happening on Super Tuesday, March 3.
