More attacks on residential buildings, Russia asking China for military assistance

(KYMA, KECY/ NBC News) - A residential building in the city of Kyiv was hit by Russian artillery early Monday, leaving at least one person dead and at least three others injured.

Several people were carried away on stretchers as firefighters rescued them from the burning building, as several others were treated at the scene.

There were also other strikes overnight on the nearby towns of Irpin, Bucha and Hostomel, which have seen some of the worst fighting in Russia's attempt to take the Capital.

Meanwhile as Russian attacks continue, according to U.S. officials, Russia has asked China for military and economic assistance.

The news was first reported by the Washington Post and the Financial Times on Sunday.

The three officials did not specify what equipment was asked for or whether Russia had asked for any lethal weaponry.

They also did not disclose whether China had agreed to the request or whether U.S. officials knew of how China's government has responded.
