CBP says this is the second teenage drug smuggler caught at the checkpoint

TUCSON, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY)-A young man is arrested after attempting to smuggle packages of methamphetamine at the Interstate 19 Immigration Checkpoint near Amado.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said last Thursday an 18-year-old was sent to secondary for further inspection of his vehicle.

Agents say they discovered 40 packages of meth, weighing 45 pounds, hidden inside the vehicle's door and quarter panels.

According to CBP, the drugs have an estimated street value of $45,000.

The car driven by the 18-year-old belongs to his father.

Agents seized the drugs and the vehicle.
