Countdown to Tokyo: Sport climbing

(KYMA, KECY/ NBC News) - If you have spent the past year and a half climbing the walls at home while stuck during the pandemic, the Tokyo games will introduce the right game for you:

Sport climbing.

Sport climbing being one of the newest games added to the slate in the summer games and Olympian Brooke Raboutou explains how it works.

"The three disciplines consist of bouldering, lead and speed," said Raboutou. "Bouldering is low to the ground and it's just you, the wall and the mats. Lead climbing is going to be much taller and you have a rope for that and clip along the way. Speed climbing is based on time. So they put those three together to make an Olympic combined event."

The Tokyo Olympics begin July 23rd.
