Jimmy Kimmel extended contract with ABC for another year

(CNN, KYMA) - Jimmy Kimmel has renewed his contract with Disney-owned ABC to continue hosting "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

A source says Kimmel signed a one-year extension to take his late-night show through May 2027.

Earlier this year, Kimmel was caught in the middle of the country's political divide when ABC executives temporarily pulled his show.

The move came after his comments during a monologue about Charlie Kirk's suspected killer, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson.

Hollywood and several political figures, like Congressman Raul Ruiz (D-Calif.), quickly rallied around Kimmel, boycotting Disney and the show was brought back.

Following Kimmel's return, Sinclair and Nexstar both pre-empted the show, but they allowed the show to return to their ABC-affiliated stations three days later.
