Opportunity includes five week-long sessions

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Humane Society of Yuma (HSOY) announced their 'Kids and Critters' line-up of summer camp sessions Friday evening. Teens are encouraged to sign up as Jr. Camp Counselors.

The job of these young animal advocates is to serve as role models to campers, and assist staff with tasks and camp activities. Children participating in HSOY’s Summer Camp program will spend time learning about animal welfare topics, while engaging in hands-on activities.

Though positions are volunteer oriented, there is a $15 registration fee. Hours are from 12-5 p.m., with 5 sessions to choose from:

  • Week 1 (06/07/2021 - 06/11/2021)
    • Responsible Pet Ownership
    • 9 through 11-year-olds will learn the basics of becoming a responsible pet owner.
  • Week 2 (06/14/2021 - 06/18/2021)

    • Animal Heroes
    • 11 through 13-year-olds will learn how different agencies help homeless pets within the community.
  • Week 4 (06/28/2021 - 07/02/2021)
    • All Things Animals
