Strong winds with slight rain chances for MLK Jr. Day

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - As of Monday morning, parts of the Desert Southwest received some measurable rain. Check below to see how much and where rain totals were recorded.

Rain chances remain in the forecast until Tuesday, but looking very light for the Desert Southwest.

Greater chances for precipitation are looking east and lower Colorado River Valley.

A Wind Advisory stays in effect for Imperial County until 3 a.m. (PST) for west winds of 20-30 MPH with gusts up to 40 MPH.

Winds this strong and making driving difficult, use extra precaution as blowing dust and sand is possible.

Occasionally gusty winds will be a primary weather issue through the rest of our Monday and into Tuesday.

By tomorrow wind directions will still favor west/southwest with winds ranging from 20-30 MPH, and occasionally gusts could peak at 40 MPH or even stronger at times.

Drier weather with more sunshine will return for the next several days, with cooler days ahead.

Expect afternoon highs and overnight lows to return below normal with the potential of overnight freezing temperatures later this week.
