El Centro City Council candidates campaign heavily for election

EL CENTRO, Calif, (KYMA, KECY) - Four candidates but only two seats for the El Centro City Council.

Sonia Carter, Tomas Oliva, Danielle Flores, and Jason Jackson are all running for a seat on the council.

Jason Jackson says he wants to improve family life for families and businesses.

Tomas Oliva who is currently the mayor says he has unfinished business and needs more time on the council to achieve city goals.

"Whether it be mental health or emotional health, that needs to be addressed first, before you could give someone housing and expect them to bounce back," he said.

Jason Jackson also wants to take care of the issue.

"Homelessness is out of control, we are surrendering our city to homelessness and that is a big part of what I am coming back to do," he said.

Again only two seats on the city council, KYMA made attempts to reach out to Danielle Flores, however, we did not hear back.
