New Hampshire police start investigation two years too late for missing child
Authorities are depending on public for narrowing search
BOSTON, Mass. (KYMA, KECY/CNN) - New Hampshire police are searching for a 7-year-old girl who's been missing for two years. However, officers say they only recently found about her disappearance.
Investigators are now turning to the public for help in finding Harmony Montgomery. She was last seen at a Manchester home in October 2019.
An attorney general's with the state confirms their office is helping with the investigation as local police are reportedly investigating new leads.
The Chief of Manchester Police Department has full confidence in his officers.
"I have detectives working on this that all have children of their own," said Chief Allen Aldenberg. "I do not doubt their level of commitment and we're going to stay at this 24/7."
Investigators have yet to comment on the girl's parents or how they found out she was missing in the first place. Police admit they have spoken to several family members though.
"We're not searching for any adult, we're not searching for anybody right now other than harmony and that is kind of why I wanted to do this, to bring the focus to this little girl right here," shared Chief Aldenberg.
Harmony was about 4 feet tall when last seen. She has blonde hair, blue eyes and is blind in her right eye.
Officers believe she could be wearing glasses now. Police also say she could've been enrolled at school in Massachusetts when she was last seen.
"I don't care if you saw this young girl a year ago and think its irrelevant, call us. And say 'I saw her a year ago. I saw her 18 months ago. I saw her a week ago,'" added Chief Aldenberg. "Let's lessen that 2 year window and keep shrinking that 2 year window to the present day today and let's chase down every possible avenue in hopes of finding harmony."
