Imperial Fire has requested a strike team from San Diego to assist

CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The Calexico Fire Department released footage of Monday evening's fire warning, "All you drivers stay away from Clark and Kubler [Roads]! You're not helping by being curious."

Spectators are playing with life and death when they choose to drive out to see these fires. Posting on social media isn't worth it if you're risking your life to record the content.

The Imperial County Fire Department also asked the public to "Please avoid the area."

Neither fire departments have released an official report on the cause of these fires occurring across the Valley.

Initial Story: Published July 5, 2021 11:15 p.m.

CALEXICO, Calif. (CBS 13) - The Imperial County Fire Department along with surrounding agencies are battling a blaze that is traveling East towards Clark Road near Calexico.

Both Clark and La Brucherie are closed. Imperial Fire has requested a strike team from San Diego to help battle the blaze.

Crews that were previously working on a fire in Brawley were called to assist the fire on Ferrel Road shortly after.

As for the public safety alerts, El Centro Police believe the alerts are related to the brush fires near Calexico and Brawley, but were not the agency who posted them.
