Vintage Base Ball comes to Yuma this December

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma Aces Vintage Base Ball Club will host an informational meeting and will recruit players.

According to a press release, the meeting and player recruitment will take place at the Colorado River State Historic Park on Saturday, December 17 at 12:00pm.

The Yuma Aces, a newly organized base ball team, also wants to bring the game of base ball to Yuma.

Not only that, the team is the first of its kind and is a part of the Arizona Vintage Base Ball League.

“We’re trying to bring the history of base ball to Yuma by promoting and playing the game as it was played in the 1860s,” said Darci Peralta, organizer and captain of the Yuma Aces.

However, the rules and regulations of a vintage base ball game than modern baseball.

“We use wooden bats. There are no gloves allowed. You can catch the ball on a bounce to get an out. A bystander can catch the ball and get an out,” Peralta continued.
