Multiple fires continue to ravage California amid historic winds and power outages

At least six fires have caused catastrophic damage throughout California this weekend. With power shutoffs, historic winds projections, and dry weather, this is a recipe for more disaster.

Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) is facing heightened scrutiny, having announced it will shut off power to nearly 1 million customers for ” public safety. ”

Tens of thousands have been ordered to evacuate in Northern California Saturday morning, amid shutoffs as firefighters battled the flames, reports The Associated Press.

The largest thus far is the Kinkade fire in Sonoma county Dozens of buildings have been destroyed, and it is only ten percent contained, reports the Mercury News.

The Tick Fire in Los Angeles County is only 25 percent contained, resulting in mandatory evacuations as the flames spread.

Yuma Fire Department responded to the Riverside, CA area to standby for the nearby fires. They are prepared to be gone for up to two weeks.

This weekend has ben projected to have historic wind conditions. Some gusts may reach 75 mph or higher, warned the National fire Service.
