House passes bill to make animal cruelty a federal felony
The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a bill that makes animal cruelty a felony Tuesday.
ABC6 News reports the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture (PACT) bans crushing, burning, drowning, and impaling animals, among other things.
Reports said the PACT Act bans animal cruelty recorded on video.
According to ABC6 News, previous laws have banned creating and selling such video, but not the acts of cruelty towards animals.
Violations of the PACT Act can result in prison time for up to seven years.
