Yuma Humane Society trying to save starved dog

Veterinarians and volunteers at the Yuma Humane Society are fighting to save a young dog’s life. The pup, now called ” Zero, ” came into the shelter literally looking like nothing but skin and bones.

Yuma County Animal Control picked up the dog out in the county. He was shockingly emaciated, covered in ticks and mud, and in obvious need of immediate medical attention.

The Humane Society describes his condition as grave. They are doing everything they can to help him, but at this time his condition remains unstable.

It’s still unclear whether Zero is a case of animal cruelty. Veterinarians don’t know if he has an underlying medical condition that caused his extreme weight loss. They ask anyone who might have information on the pup to call Animal Control at (928)783-4427, or the Humane Society at (928)782-1621.

The Humane Society is also asking for donations to help pay for Zero’s care. Executive Director Annette Lagunas says, ” …cases like Zero are hard for our staff and volunteers to see. But with the help of the veterinary community and the public we can continue to help Zero and others. As always we ask the community to come forward when they see animals who may not be being treated humanely ” .

If you’d like to help Zero, call the Humane Society, or click here to make a donation.
