YRMC to restrict visitors during flu season

Restrictions for those 15 and under

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY) - The Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC) plans to implement visitor restrictions starting December 26.

Visitors 15-years-old and younger will not be allowed in patient care and waiting areas during the flu season.

Visitors may have to provide ID in order to be accepted into these facilities.

Exceptions will be made for patients 15-years-old or younger, parents of patients, YRMC said.

Visitor restrictions include the main campus of the hospital, as well as the YRMC Cancer Center.

YRMC asks individuals to avoid hospital visitation if they are experiencing flu-like symptoms.

Several years ago YRMC implemented a mandatory flu vaccine policy for all of its employees, however visitors may notice masks being worn by those where were unable to receive their flu vaccination.

YRMC hopes these annual visitor restrictions will protect patients, families and staff from unnecessary exposure to the flu virus.
