EXCLUSIVE look at the Baywatch casting event

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (KYMA) - The hit global sensation Baywatch is returning to the television screen for FOX's 2026-2027 season with 12 episodes expected in its first season.

The Baywatch open casting call was on the search for actors to fill a wide range of roles as well as additional characters that are yet to be written.

Canadian actor and former "Arrow" star Stephen Amell will be playing the show's leading role as Hobie Buchannon, a character from the original Baywatch series.

Q: "You're turning in your arrows for some swim trunks. How is that feeling for you?"

Amell: "It's the same thing it's a superhero suit, it's just there's a lot less article of clothing."

Plus, another familiar face from the show is making a reprise in the new series.

David Chokachi returns as Cody Madison.

Q: "Cody is making a return! What is he doing?"

Chokachi: “well so far without giving too much away, I own a bar but Im still an active lifeguard which is cool what I love is the take on it is that it’s not a new show its not like we’re changing the formula when the show ended in la not the Hawaii version you fast forward to 2026 and we’re picking up since then”

In 1989, Baywatch became the most watched television show in the world, which aired in over 200 countries and reached over a billion viewers every week. The show's cast stole the fans hearts, with actors such as David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra, Jason Momoa and Yasmine Bleeth.

Fans can expect the thrilling rescues tangles relationships and beachside heroics this new series.

Baywatch is expected to begin shooting in March in Venice Beach.
