President Biden revokes executive orders targeting Tik Tok, WeChat

(KYMA, KECY/ CNN) - President Biden has revoked former President Trump's executive order targeting Tik Tok, WeChat and other Chinese social media companies.

Biden also signed a fresh order that takes aim at apps linked to America's foreign adversaries, including China.

According to a White House news release, the purpose of the new executive order is to guard Americans' personal data. The move shows that the Biden Administration has many of the same national security concerns.

This is apparent even though Biden rescinded the specific orders targeting individual companies. The concern among policy makers is that apps tied to China could be forced by Bejing to disclose user's personal information or spread disinformation.
