City Council Candidates ready for the midterms

YUMA, Ariz., (KYMA, KECY) - I’ve been following these races for quite some time now and we are eager to see who comes out on top.

The candidates I spoke to earlier today said they are feeling a mix of emotions.

Out of six candidates, three will fill the open seats on yuma city council.

Candidates Carol Smith and Art Morales, and Gary Knight say they are feeling optimistic and excited after campaigning for about 8 months, now awaiting those final results.
“I’m really happy with my effort, there’s nothing else I feel like I could have done and I’m just really proud of that if anything,” said Carol Smith.
“I’m super excited, I’m getting calls, texts messages on the internet from people saying that they voted for me. They’re super excited that they voted not just on my behalf but for the City of Yuma,” said Art Morales.
“I think the top three finishers in the primary will remain the top 3 in the general, at least that’s been my experience over the last couple of elections,” said Gary Knight.

Results for this race are not final yet, however Morales, Knight and Smith are in the lead as of now.

Tune into sunrise for updated numbers.
