Dr. Oz to run for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania

Penn. (KYMA, KECY) - Doctor Oz is running for the U.S. Senate in the state of Pennsylvania.

The cardiothoracic surgeon and television personality's announcement came in an opinions and editorial page published Tuesday in the Conservative Washington Examiner.

Oz, who is running as a Republican, is an Ohio native, but he attended medical school at the University of Pennsylvania.

His interest in the Senate race was first reported earlier this year in the Washington Free Beacon and Politico.

The 61-year-old joins a primary field that already includes at least two Republican opponents.
