Christian Galeno joined KYMA/KSWT in July of 2019 as a Weekend Anchor and multimedia journalist.
A native Angeleno who is a die-hard LA Dodgers fan, Christian is originally from South Central Los Angeles but is now excited to begin his journalism career in the sunniest city in the world. Even though Los Angeles will always be home, that is the city where Christian discovered his passion for journalism with the diversity in cultures, peoples, and stories.
Christian received his Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism and Chicano Latino Studies from California State University, Long Beach's School of Journalism & Public Relations. During his time at Long Beach State, he studied abroad in La Havana, Cuba a month after Fidel Castro passed away. He also interned for NBC Los Angeles & KVEA/Telemundo 52.
As an active member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) he seeks to always report stories truthfully and accurately when it comes to communities of color as well as fighting for diversity in newsrooms.
When Christian is not reporting you will find him either reading a great book, learning about his heritage and culture, eating (huge foodie that has his own taco Instagram blog) or binging a TV series or watching a good film (has seen Titanic over 500 times). He enjoys the outdoors as well by going on an excellent hike or jog.
Connect with Christian to send him story ideas or food spot recommendations.
