EL CENTRO, Calif. – Taking care of business. This is the mantra of the Imperial Tigers softball team; as they needed just 1 win out of their final 2 regular season games to take the Imperial Valley League Title.
A win at Central would mathematically knock out Calexico from taking a share of the crown. The Tigers wouldn’t waver with the stakes raised. They played well enough in all phases of the game to get the coveted victory; in a 7-0 final.
Starting pitcher Sinclaire Mays was stellar, not allowing a run in all 7 innings and getting more than enough run support on top of that. One of those runs came in the 6th, when Rebekah Jiminez punched in an RBI single to score Cassandra Valle for the 7th and final run of the game.
The Tigers will close out the regular season at home against Palo Verde next week.
