Yuma Superior Court Judge, John N. Smith followed a state prosecutor’s recommendation and sentenced Gail Helen Eldridge to six years behind bars.
A few weeks ago, the winter visitor accepted a plea agreement and pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, domestic violence, which is a class four felony.
Eldridge must serve 85% of her sentence before the possibility of parole.
However, she was given credit for nearly a year’s worth of time already served.
Eldridge was arrested last February for shooting her husband in the chest at a home on East County 11th Street in Wellton.
Eldridge did speak on her behalf at her sentencing, saying she is very sorry and if she could change what happened, she would.
