While the Christmas spirit typically revolves around giving to family and the less fortunate, those looking to get a head start on saving money when tax season rolls around can do so by donating to your local Arizona school districts.
This is done through the Arizona tax credit, which aids schools in paying for trips, equipment, and uniforms.
Under the program, donors can obtain tax savings of up to $200 for individuals and $400 for married couples.
For example, a married couple decides to donate $400 to their local school district.
If they owe the state $2,000 in state taxes, they will now only owe $1,600.
In 2012, Y.U.H.S.D supporters donated more than $121,000 to the district.
