Yuma County sheriff's deputies responded to a report of shots fired around 8:30 p.m. Sunday night on the 2600 block of 19th Avenue.
The home owner told deputies he came home and noticed a car parked in the driveway with the engine still running and the side door of his home open.
Two men ran from the victim's backyard towards the vehicle, which the home owner described as an older model silver two door Honda or Toyota.
As the victim tried to confront them, the intruders used a handgun to fire off rounds while they backed out of the driveway.
Deputies say this may have been an attempted burglary.
No one was hurt in the incident, but deputies say the incident is still under investigation.
