Just a few months ago, Yuma Regional Medical Center started construction on it's new cancer center that will allow local patients to be treated in one location.
YRMC partnered with Mayo Clinic Care Network to bring the latest expertise and clinical care to Yuma.
The nearly 40,000 sq. ft. three story building is triple the size of the current cancer center.
It has expanded services, additional doctors and allows for cancer patients to remain in Yuma for treatment.
Several other services will be available in the new center. Almost 40% of Yuma cancer patients leave the community for care and YRMC wanted to prevent that with this new project.
The new cancer center should be open on June 30th, 2014.
