Two former agents will now spend two years in prison for a crime committed five years ago in the Tucson area.
In 2008...25-year old Dario Castillo from Yuma and 31-year old Ramon Zuniga from San Luis tracked four people carrying marijuana.
All this video is generic footage of border patrol agents working on the border.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Zuniga shoved a bag of marijuana into a suspected drug smuggler's mouth yelling in Spanish for him to eat it.
The investigation, led by the Department of Homeland Security, shows Zuniga and Castillo commanded the suspected drug smugglers to remove several layers of clothing, shoes and socks, which they then set on fire.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says they then ordered the victims to run away, leaving them to spend the night in the desert with only a single layer of clothing.
The attempted drug smugglers were rescued the next morning by a Tribal Police Officer.
The U.S. attorney's office stresses not even enforcement officers are above the law.
Attorney John S. Leonardo says quote, "Violations of the law by those sworn to enforce it undermine public confidence in the entire criminal justice system will not be tolerated.”
