Jose Rodriguez is facing four felony offenses, including one count of attempted second degree per domestic violence after shooting a woman in the leg.
Along with the murder charge, the Yuma native faces three counts of aggravated assault.
These accusations stem from an incident early Sunday morning, when Yuma County Sheriff’s deputies received calls of a shooting at the 10400 block of S. Tornado Avenue.
When officers arrived at the house, the five-foot-six Rodriguez was already being detained by another person, and they found a neighbor administering first aid to a woman who had been shot in the leg.
She was immediately transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
After further investigation officers discovered Rodriguez had fired a 40. Caliber handgun at the victim following a domestic dispute.
Three children, ages 5, 9, and 11, were in the house at the time of the shooting.
Rodriguez is currently being held in the Yuma County Jail on $150,000 cash only bond.
