Construction along 24th St. between Pacific and Arizona Avenues has caused quite a headache for drivers passing through, but city officials say this is all to improve the infrastructure.
Construction teams are working to replace the water line under 24th St.
While traffic congestion is not typical for the Yuma area, during this construction project, drivers should expect delays.
Dave Nash with the City of Yuma said spring time is ideal for the many construction projects going on around town.
"We realize that this is a lot of activity for motorists to be aware of all at once, and ask please for a little understanding and patience. However, the good news, is at the end of all this, we will have some smoother streets to drive on."
Lanes are already reduced to one in each direction on 24th St., creating somewhat of a traffic nightmare during peak hours.
During this time, there will also be construction going on separately in the intersection of Kennedy Ln. and 24th St.
According to city officials, construction, along with those delays, should be over by Labor Day weekend in September.
