Barricade situation forces 3 Yuma schools on lockdown
At 2:39 p.m. Tuesday, Yuma police responded to the 2300 block of Carol Ave. for a barricade situation.
As a precaution, three Yuma schools in the area were placed on lockdown. Those schools included Harvest Preparatory Academy, Desert View Academy, and McGraw Elementary. Police say a man barricaded himself in a residence in the area. At 3:46 p.m. the lockdown was lifted on the schools.
The man was taken into custody at about 5:55 p.m. after surrendering to police. Police say he had a weapon on him, but did not specify what the weapon was. Medical personnel evaluated him, and police took him into custody questioning, and he may be charged with endangerment.
