A small Cesna plane made an emergency landing in a carrot field near El Centro and Heber Friday afternoon.

Imperial County fire captain Luis Andrade tells News 11 that the forced landing was due to mechanical problems.

He says the pilot, who was the only person on board, suffered only minor injuries, and the private plane had minor damage.

The plane went down around 3:45 p.m. Friday in a carrot field north of McCabe Rd, and just 1.5 miles south of the Imperial Valley Mall.
