On the eve of National Signing Day, Cibola High School senior Bernie Montoya has now made his collegiate commitment.

The long distance running phenom had recently narrowed his school choices down to two Pac-12 schools; the University of Oregon and Arizona State.

Cibola High School confirmed to News 11 that Montoya will attend ASU this fall. Montoya's positive relationship with the Sun Devil's track coaches, his desire to stay close to home, and his hopes of getting ASU's cross country program to the next level all are major factors in his decision.

Montoya will have an official signing ceremony later this week. Cibola long distance runner Monica Huston is also committing to Brigham Young University.
