The Yuma Catholic Lady Shamrocks have hit a rut over the last week. Their home losses to River Valley and Parker have put them on life support for their playoff chances.
Enter the highly ranked Salome Lady Frogs, who are looking for a high playoff seeding for the postseason. Whether or not they overlooked Y.C., the Lady Shamrocks survived regulation with the score all knotted at 50 points for each team. The Lady Frogs missed four consecutive free throws and two shots at the end of regulation to give new life to the Lady Rocks.
Yuma Catholic wouldn't waste much time in the extra period to take a lead they wouldn't give up. Madison Brazeel and Makena Zamora made pivotal fast break points to break the Lady Frogs for good.
The Lady Shamrock defense also held firm the rest of the way, not giving up any points in overtime. The upset 64 to 50 win gives Yuma Catholic at least an outside chance at the making the playoff dance. The Lady Rocks finish their regular season play at Tonopah Valley on Wednesday.
