The much-anticipated 22nd annual Holtville Rib Cook-off took place Saturday as promised, rain or shine.

The cook-off is one of the largest events in the Imperial Valley.

Thousands of people showed up to enjoy 12,000 pounds of ribs.

About 600 volunteers helped make the event successful.

This year's top award was $1,000 for best BBQ ribs.

All net proceeds of the event will benefit are youth activity education and athletic groups.
