The Kofa Kings soccer program has been sailing smoothly this seaon, beside a bump in a road against San Luis in late December. Since that time, they've had impressive wins at the expense of the Sidewinders and Basha.
Meanwhile, the Yuma Criminals are not having a shabby season so far under the helm of Evan Chamberlain. Their most recent success came at home against Cibola.
There would be no backing down in this game at Irv Pallack Field. The Kings and the Criminals played an entertaining match that would never be settled. Both teams scored two goals, but neither could get their third through two overtime periods.
Kofa did show offensive dominance, outshooting their opponent 25 to 3. But, the few shots that the Crims had they made the most of. Yuma goalkeeper Manuel Lizo certainly had to be the man who gets the credit for keeping his team in the game thoughout the match.
Yuma High also recieved 7 yellow cards in this aggressive contest. Lizo also got shook up in at least one occasion during one of his save attempts. Yuma and Kofa square off again next week at Doan Field.
