After suffering a tough loss to Gila Ridge, the Yuma Criminals soccer team needed a big boost before taking on their arch rival Kofa. The Cibola Raiders came into Doan Field with ideas of a road win, but Yuma wouldn't allow it this time around.
Even though the Raiders managed to put the pressure on the Criminal net, Yuma keeper Manuel Lizo made some impressive saves to keep his team from falling behind. After a 1 to 1 halftime tie, the Criminals found an opportunity on a breakaway play to the Raider net. Abraham Topete managed to physically get by the keeper and drill the ball through the net to get the deciding goal early in the second half.
The win improves the Criminals record to 5-2-1 on the season, as they get ready for their big match against Kofa.
