The Yuma Catholic Shamrocks are holding on to their number one ranking in A.I.A. Division 4 with only three weeks left in the regular season. At 16 and 2, the Shamrocks only losses this season were to Tucson and Lake Havasu; both Division 1 teams.
Their latest home contest against Parker proved to be a display of why they are ranked so high in the state. Even though the Rocks only had a 10 point halftime lead, that lead would grow to 24 by the end of the contest. The Rocks won 63 to 39.
The Shamrocks Jason Reid led the team with 16 points and 11 rebound, while Grady Bourguignon put down 15 points and 8 rebounds. Bourguignon filled in for Matt Pistone, who went down with an ankle injury. Pistone's injury will keep him off the court for at least the rest of the week. The Shamrocks coaching staff will evaluate his status this coming weekend.
Yuma Catholic hits the road this Wednesday against Gila Bend.
