Jury Selection Begins in Molestation Case
Jury selection has begun in the case of former high ranking California Highway Patrol Officer Johnnie Swaim.
He’s charged with four counts of lewd and lascivious acts and oral copulation on two different underaged girls.
These acts allegedly took place during 1997 to 2002.
Swaim sat stoic in the Imperial County Superior courtroom and looked straight ahead as the jury process was taking place.
Swaim was a lieutenant and a commander and worked out of the Winterhaven CHP office. He was let go in december of 2011.
Reports say he was also acquitted in the 1990s for similar charges. The trial is scheduled to last for a little over one month.
