In a contest that might decide who eventually wins the ACCAC, the AWC Lady Matadors were caught in a back and forth battle with Central Arizona. Even though the Lady Mats led through most of the first half and had a nine point run in the second, it wouldn't be enough to outlast the Lady Vaqueras.
Central Arizona would put together a 13 point run that would ultimately give them the 58 to 54 win at the House. Central's Brea Edwards would prove to be a one woman scoring machine, nabbing 25 points; which would include four second half three point shots.
AWC's Nikki Villescaz and Samantha Wallace would also do work on the scoreboard, taking in 14 and 11 points respectively. Lady Mats coach Patrick Cunningham says this game was a measuring stick to what his team needs to do to get back to the league championship game.
