San Luis Film Festival coming soon!

San Luis, Ariz-  The 5th Annual Film Festival is on it’s way this November to return with new independent films from around the world.

Five years ago, Antonio Carrillo, an Academic and Career Advisor at Arizona Western College, started the idea of inviting independent films to make their debut at The San Luis Film Festival. The event has the history of featuring films from Spain, Mexico, and even parts of the U.S.

Javier Jara is a student at Arizona Western College, who loves to attend the annual festival because of the impact it has on the community.

“It showed some great movies, it showed how the community connects, and I think that it’s something special to go to.”  says Jara.

Over the course of time, the festival has featured films that have received numerous awards and nominations at the Ariel Awards in Mexico, which is equivalent to the Oscars.

Carrillo tells us, “Last year we had close to 500 people in three days…that’s a lot of people. This year we are hoping for a thousand in four days..and the actors we are hoping to bring are going to be the factor that are going to go beyond the expected goal of people attending.”

The San Luis Film Festival is set for November 15-18th 2016. The admission is free and viewers will even get a chance to ask questions with the director or actor from their favorite film! The official release of the films being feature will be held at the Somerton Main St. Cafe located at 214 W. Main St in Somerton next Friday, September 2nd at 6pm.
