Shots fired during burglary

YUMA, Ariz. – A single gunshot was heard from the neighborhood of 42nd Drive and neighbors say they are now scared.

Witnesses say one of the men had a shaved head, prescription glasses and a hoodie. They were driving an older four door purple car.

According to the Yuma Police Department, around 7:30 Thursday morning, a woman found three Hispanic men in her garage, who were attempting to steal her Yamaha Rhino ATV.

The garage was open at the time and when she saw them, they ran off. The woman chased after the three men and saw them get into their dark colored car.

YPD Lori Franklin said, “Three Hispanic males entered a vehicle, the driver of the vehicle pulled out a gun
the victim turned around to run the other way and heard one gunshot. She wasn’t struck.”

A neighbor in the area says they saw the action, “He was running away to the getaway car. He was in his 30’s, with prescription glasses and wearing a blue and grey hoodie.”

Franklin one gunshot was fired by the woman driving the car. The witness heard the gunshot while she was in her car, “I’m just thankful he didn’t see me. It was a loud pop; really scary.”

Witness said, “It was kind of beat up, it didn’t look brand new.”

At this time, there is no description of the woman driving the car and what type of car they were in.
