Police activity on 24th St. and 1st Ave for suspicious activity

YUMA, Ariz. –

Monday Update: The Yuma Police Department says the suspicious activity from Friday night on 24th street and 1st Ave near the Bordertown Skate Shop. was due to a 911 call reporting  a man “not acting right”.  YPD says that the man became combative with first responders who requested police assistance to safely get the man to the hospital. Police say they believe the suspicious behavior is drug related but that has not been determined and is still under investigation. We do not know what criminal charges, if any, the man could be facing or what his condition is at this time. We will update you with more details as we receive them.

Friday –

Our cameras were rolling at the scene of heavy police activity on 24th Street and First Avenue in Yuma Friday night just after 9 p.m.

One of our reporters spoke to officers at the scene who say it was a medical emergency but would not specify the extent of the emergency or provide any more details.

More than five police units arrived on scene as well as an ambulance and fire engine. An individual could be seen on a gurney with his hands behind his back.

Our reporter at the scene says the man had his hands bound behind his back appearing to be hand cuffs.

We have reached out to the Yuma Police Department for details on this incident but have not gotten a response with any further details at this time.

We will update you with any new information we receive.
