Police: 3 people found dead on state highway near Coolidge

COOLIDGE, Ariz. (AP) – Authorities say three people are dead after apparently being shot on a highway near Coolidge.

Coolidge police say the incident occurred Wednesday afternoon on State Route 87 at Signal Peak Road and they are not looking for any suspects.

They would not immediately say if the incident appears to be drug-related.

Aerial footage of the scene from television news helicopters shows three bodies covered with tarps and investigators gathering evidence in the area.

Police say State Route 87 remains closed in both directions and the Arizona Department of Public Safety and the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office are assisting with the investigation.

Coolidge is located about 56 miles southeast of Phoenix.
