Imperial Valley firefighters head to Central California wildfire

IMPERIAL VALLEY, Calif. – Several firefighters from Imperial County are headed to fight the Chimney Fire, which has burned more than 6,400 acres in San Luis Obispo county, the strike team was sent out on Monday evening. The team has first responders from the Imperial County Fire Dept, Calexico, Brawley, Calipatria, and El Centro fire departments. Holtville Fire Chief Silva is the strike team leader. This is the county strike teams third deployment within a month.

More than 1,600 firefighters are battling the blaze that has destroyed at least 12 structures and damaged 20. The fire is only about 10% contained.
