PHOENIX – The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued a dust and wind advisory for Yuma County and Imperial County until 9/8 Pacific this evening.

Winds are ranging from 20 to 30 mph with gusts of wind of 40 to 45 mph. With these heavy winds brings a lot of dust in the air creating low visibility when outside. The National Weather Service reports visibility below one mile and in some areas less than a quarter mile of visibility because of the dust in the air.

For those traveling, all major interstates and highways have heavy winds and low visibility so use extra caution when driving and be ready for sudden drops in visibility. The National Weather Service encourages anyone who encounters blowing dust or blowing sand on the roadway or see it approaching to pull off the road as far as possible and put your vehicle in park. Turn the lights all the way off and keep your foot off the brake pedal.
