Demolition set for Yuma’s Plaza Theater

YUMA, Ariz. – Demolition crews have already torn down one building on Fourth Avenue and 16th Street on Wednesday.

The demolition is part of a project to help widen the busy intersection. So far crews have torn down Wild Stix, an old sushi restaurant. City officials say the Plaza Theater will be torn down next in a few days.

So we asked residents what they thought about the theater being torn down.

“You know I think its a good thing. I think the improvements are needed for the widening of the intersection and the redevelopment of this area. I think it goes along with whats going on in the other corners of this intersection,” said Scott Mulhern.

Construction for widening the intersection is set for this Spring.
