IMPERIAL, Calif. – New houses being constructed means growth for the City of Imperial.
This month’s City of Imperial Chamber of Commerce mixer featured newly constructed model homes and the Chamber says that’s good news.
Growing is what the city is doing right now.
The city grew almost 55 percent from 2000 to 2010, according to the Chamber and they expect to top that percentage on the next census.
They say the friendly quiet neighborhood living and affordable housing are big attraction factors.
The proof is that housing construction keeps springing up everywhere, Chamber officials say.
“It seems to be that it’s a small community but it’s also growing but in a great way. We work together with businesses. We work together with the schools. Families are starting to come here. It’s a great opportunity for children to get a great education,” Imperial Chamber of Commerce Director Julissa Ayala said.
Imperial’s population of 8,100 in 2000 jumped to almost 15,000 in 2010.
