CALIPATRIA, Calif. – A woman was arrested after prison guards found marijuana in the car she drove to Calipatria State Prison.
Officers say Deja Raybniece Washington, 27, an Inglewood resident was at the prison as a visitor, when the Gate House officer noticed a strong smell of pot coming from her car.
Washington consented to a search of her person and car where officers say they found a green plastic bag with 10.5 grams of marijuana and one hand-rolled cigarette. The drugs could have sold for more than $2,600 inside prison walls, according to prison officials.
Washington was arrested and booked into Imperial County Jail and is facing felony charges. If she’s convicted she could be sentenced to three to five years in prison.
